When Madison was about 7 months old, we started trying to teach her how to sign. I was so excited about it, and couldn't wait for her so sign her first word. Well, I waited, and waited, and waited. I was starting to loose hope and thought our efforts were in vain. . . until, one Sunday at church. I was feeding Madison some puffs, when she signed "more". It was so cute because she pinches her thumb and forefinger together on both hands and then taps them together. Matt and I just looked at each other in amazement. She continued to do it many times until her puffs were gone.
Since then her signing has taken off. She now signs "more, eat, drink, and bath". I now am really happy we signed with Madison. It now gives her a way to communicate with us.
