Baptisim

On Sunday, June 28th, Ms. Madison Rose was baptized at St. Michael's Church in Grand Ledge. Madison's Godparents are Matt's brother Chad, and my sister in-law Melissa. She was baptized during the 10:30 service, and afterward we were joined by family at our house for lunch to celebrate. It was a very special day for us and our family.

It also happened to be Benjamin's 4th birthday, so we bought him a little cake and sang Happy Birthday to him. Wow, did his face light up when we started singing! Unfortunately, he must have thought it suddenly turned into HIS birthday party, because after he bowed his head and said, "Thank you, thank you, thank you very much.", he said, "Okay everybody give me presents now!" (Hence the picture of Amy covering up his mouth!) We all got a good laugh out of that one!

Summertime

Last Monday, we met up with my sister and her children in Portland for a little picnic. We had just bought Madison some new sunglasses, so we had to try them out! She looked so cute!

Father's Day 2009

This year was Matt's first Father's Day. We started the day by giving Matt his first Father's Day gifts. I gave him tickets to see Larry the Cable Guy at the Casino. Madison gave Matt two onesies. One that said I heart Dad, and the other one said, "Light of Dad's Life". Matt was very happy with his gifts.

Next we went to church. Shortly after church Matt's sister Kendra, and brother in-law Jay, came to meet Madison for the first time. They were home from Florida for their friend's wedding.

After that we had some down time at home, where Matt and I both had some cuddle time with Madison.

Soon it was time to go to my parent's house to see my dad for Father's Day. We had some dinner and visited with family. Since Madison was exactly two months old on Father's Day, I wanted to get a few pictures of her, and I decided I might as well make Matt part of the photo shoot since it was Father's Day! Madison really didn't want to cooperate as you can tell in many of the pictures.

It was a very nice day, and Madison and I are very lucky to have Matt as a father and husband.

One Month Pictures

On the day of Madison's one month check up, I couldn't resist getting out my camera, because Madison was sleeping and looked so cute! So I started snapping a few shots on the couch, then decided to take a few in her bedroom. Well, one picture turned into a one month photo shoot! I love the way the pictures turned out! Here are a few of them and if you want to see the rest, you can click here to get to my website. The password is Huber.

Madison Rose

Why the name Madison Rose? Well, ten years ago, I had a girl in my class named Madison. She was one of those students who was close to my heart, and I really liked her name. I always kept the name in mind for when I had a little girl. Years passed and more and more people started using "my name" (Madison). :) In fact it is now one of the most popular girl names!

Matt's Grandma Sawyer's first name is Rose. I didn't even know this for quite some time because she went by the name Pat. I had loved the name Rose since I was a little girl. In fact, when I was little, I made my own little baby name book full of my favorite names, and Rose was one of them.

After Matt and I decided to start a family, we began discussing names. Matt and I both agreed that we liked the name Madison, especially because it sounded a bit like the name Matt. We put Rose with the name Madison and it sounded perfect. It officially became one of our favorite choices.

A funny coincidence was that at the beginning of this past school year, I was looking over my class list and realized that I had a Madison Rose in my class! She is adorable, sweet, and is a little spunky! She made me like the name even more!

We didn't officially decide on the name Madison Rose until we first saw her. We had a few other names as possible choices, but decided Madison Rose was our favorite. We hope she will love her name as much as we do!

A Nice Treat!

Last night Ms. Madison gave her parents a little treat . . she slept through the night for the first time!!! She probably was so tired from crying on and off from about 5 p.m. - 11 p.m.!!

I'm sure it won't happen again anytime soon, but it was a nice treat! Needless to say I feel rested and like a new woman!

Great Grandparents

Madison is not only blessed with wonderful grandparents, she also has four great-grandparents that are still with us. She has been able to meet three of them, and here are the pictures.

Great Grandma Sawyer got to meet Madison on May 9th. Madison's middle name, Rose, is Great Grandma Sawyers first name.

On Mother's Day, Great Grandpa Sawyer finally got to hold little Madison. He had been waiting a long time to hold her and talked about the baby non stop from the minute he found out we were expecting. It was great to see his eyes light up when he saw her for the first time.

On, June 13th, we took Madison to meet her Great Grandpa Bertram. "She sure is a pretty one." is the first thing he said when he saw her, with a twinkle in his eye. I asked him if he wanted to hold her, and I was a little surprised when he said yes.

I also took a four generations picture which included Great Grandpa Bertram, Grandpa Bertram, me, and Madison.

Beautiful Disaster

What do you call two bouncy seats, one borrowed swing, one car seat, and one soothing seat? A mess? Nope, pure bliss.

This afternoon, I was trying to get my crying daughter to sleep, I decided to put in the new Jewel lullaby CD I had just bought and started dancing with Madison. About half way into the first song, she started to fall asleep.

As I was enjoying holding my daughter close and listening to the soothing music, I looked around the house and noticed how much it had changed. Just six and a half weeks ago, my living room had a lot less clutter. No bouncy seats or swings. I then thought back to the two years we spent trying to have a child and how at times I never imagined my living room would look the way it does now. My eyes welled up with tears and I gave my daughter a kiss. Life is good.

How Times Have Changed . . .

On Sunday, Matt's cousin Tony came to visit with his new son, Tyler. At one point during the visit, I looked into the living room to see Tony and Matt both feeding their new little ones. It was so funny to me because I have known Matt and Tony for 11 years now, way before they had children. When I was hanging out with them, they usually had different bottles in their hands! My how times have changed!

Random Picture

Just had to post this picture on the blog because it is one of my favorite pictures of our Madison. Enjoy!

Mother's Day 2009

This post should have been done a month ago, but oh well, better late than never.

This year was my first Mother's Day, and it was great. Matt, Madison and I went up to Perry and Penny's on Saturday and spent the night. On Sunday, we enjoyed lunch with the family. Grandpa Sawyer's birthday was the day before, so we sang Happy Birthday to him and enjoyed some birthday cake. After lunch, we headed south to visit my mom and dad. Since Madison had arrived just two weeks earlier, she got a lot of love and attention from both sides of the family during our visits!

When the day was done, and we were home, I realized we never got a picture of Madison and I on my first Mother's Day, so Matt snapped the picture shown below. My first Mother's Day was wonderful and I felt very blessed to finally be a mother.
