Giggeling With Grandpa

January 9th, 2010

My mom and dad were leaving for Israel in a few days, so of course they had to see the grand-kids before they left. They stopped by on a Saturday night to get a little Madison fix before they left the country for ten days. We enjoyed their visit and Grandpa even got Madison to REALLY giggle!

Oh Little Town of Bethlehem

January 6, 2010
Madison got a book for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa Bertram called "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem". It plays the song and the stars light up. It is really cute, and as I have mentioned before, Madison LOVES it when we read it to her. Enjoy!

Dancing and Strumming

January 6, 2010

We knew Madison danced when she heard music, but then we realized that whenever we mention dancing, she dances! It's pretty funny!

Another new thing Madison started doing was strumming her lips to make noise. We don't know where she learned it, but she does it all the time now, and it seems to amuse her.

Well, we caught both on video, and here it is!

Giggling with Godmother

December 26th, 2009
Matt, Melissa, mom and dad came over to visit. Godmother Melissa was playing Peek-a-Boo with Madison and really got her giggling which is not easy to do, so we had to get it on tape!

Christmas Day

After we finished opening gifts at Perry and Penny's, we started packing up and getting ready for church. The roads were bad so we tried to leave a little early and made it to church safely. Not many other people must have wanted to venture out, because there were only 15 people in church, and Madison was the only child! It was a little crazy, but a little nice too.

During the sign of peace, we were able to shake every one's hand in church! Then, after communion, father asked if we could bring up our baby. He took her and made the sign of the cross with her as he gave the final blessing. It was a moving Christmas moment.

After church we headed home. The roads were pretty bad at first but got better by the time we got to Ionia. When we got home Madison took a nap and soon it was time to pack up and head to the Bertrams!

When we got to my mom and dad's, everybody had to get their Madison fix. So while she was passed around everybody enjoyed some hors'devours.

Soon it was time to open gifts! Madison got to open the first gift because she was the youngest! (Technically Matt and Melissa's baby is the youngest, but they let Madison open her gift first!) Her first gift was from the Millers and it was a hairdryer, which was perfect because she is just starting to get hair! (He he!)

From Grandma and Grandpa Bertram she got a toy fishbowl, and two books. One was "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem". It was really neat because it lights up and Madison loved it right away!

Godmother Melissa made Madison some special gifts for Christmas. She made her some hair clips and decorated a onsie. They were all adorable, and Madison looks adorable in them!

After we opened gifts we ate dinner. It was yummy as usual! After dinner we put on Madison's pajamas. She played a little and I had to take a few pictures!

It was a wonderful Christmas with the Bertrams!

Christmas Morning

Because of the bad weather, we spent Christmas Eve at Penny and Perry's. After Madison opened her gifts from her grandparents and uncle Chad, she drank her bottle, and fell asleep for the evening. Usually she stays asleep and generally sleeps the whole night through. Unfortunately, she must have known the next day was Christmas because she was up A LOT, all night long! I was tempted to go downstairs when Santa came and tell him to take back her presents! Just Kidding. :)

When 6:30 rolled around, Madison was up again, so we got up and went downstairs to see if Santa had left some gifts for Madison under the tree. Santa must have gotten the note we left at our house that told him where we were, because he left presents for Madison!

We had a seat by the Christmas tree, took a few pictures, and opened up Madison's gifts. Penny and Perry got up to watch her open a few gifts before they went down to watch Austin and Kennen open up their gifts. Matt took pictures and did a little videotaping.

It was so wonderful to finally have a little one to share Christmas with. I think I summed it up best with what I wrote in the book we got her for Christmas.

"To Madison on your first Christmas. May all your Christmas' be as magical as you have made this one for us. XOXO Love, Mom & Dad"

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, as soon as Matt was done working we packed up the car and headed up north to spend time with his side of the family. We wanted to leave right away because the frozen rain was in the forecast, in fact it already started sleeting when we left at about 2:00 p.m.

We made it up there safe and sound a few hours before the party began. This allowed Grandma Penny to get some lovin from Madison before everybody arrived. At about 5:30 everybody began to arrive for the 6:00 dinner. As always there was plenty of fabulous food!

After dinner, it was time to open presents. Madison got to open her gift first because it was getting close to her bedtime, and she was getting tired. It was huge, it was from Grandma Penny and Papa Perry, and it was her very first Little Red Wagon! It will be so fun to use this summer to take Madison on walks!

Grandma & Papa also got Madison an outfit, and a doll.

Madison got some U of M apparel from her Godfather Chad.

Shortly after gifts were opened, we gave Madison her bottle and she fell asleep! We originally planned on driving home after the party so we could wake up at our house on Christmas, but we didn't want to risk it with the bad weather, so we decided to stay at Perry and Penny's house for the night. It was a great Christmas Eve with the Hubers, Sawyers, and Danielskis!

Dancing Queen

About two weeks ago, right at the beginning of my Christmas break, I noticed that Madison would start dancing when I would sing to her! It was so hilarious! She does it ALL the time now, not only when I sing to her, but also when she hears music, and when she is happy. I've been trying to get it on video many times since then. I had a hard time getting her to do it really well when I got out the video camera, but I think I got two good ones to share! Enjoy!
