Trip to the Water Park

On Tuesday, we took Madison to the East Lansing Aquatic Center. For the last few summers, mom has treated all her grandchildren to a day at the water park. This year was no exception. Mom brought Grant and Brandon and Amy came with her crew. I came with Madison and Matt was able to get off work a bit early to see Madison get in the water! Madison seems to enjoy the water. She doesn't fuss a bit! It was a beautiful day and everyone had a great time.

Tired out after swimming!

Shortly before we were leaving, Mom, Amy, and Megan were staring at me, talking about how many freckles come out after I'm out in the sun. I said, well look at you guys! It was pretty funny because we all have an abundance of freckles!

Squealing in Delight

Madison's new trick, squealing in delight at her toys! She's been doing it for a while, but I finally got a good video of it this morning.

Talking to Grandma

Last night mom came over for a Madison fix. While she was talking to Madison, she started to imitate her. Mom would say Oooh, and Madison would ooohh back! It was soo cute!

Madison is 16 weeks!

On Sunday, Madison turned 16 weeks! Obviously I had to take some pictures, so last night, I put Madison in her "Worth the Wait" onesie, and took some pictures in our front yard. We even got her to smile in most of them! If you want to see all the pictures, click here. The password is Huber.

Matt's Mistake

On Friday, while I was shooting a wedding, Matt got very sick of his hair. He was at home and needed a haircut, and FOR SOME REASON, he decided that he could cut his own hair with his trimmer.

Well as you can see below, I don't think he'll be getting his barber license anytime soon. Luckily we both can laugh about it. In fact I catch myself laughing many times when I look at him! ESPECIALLY when he is holding Madison because they look like TWINS!! Matt's hair should grow back, let's hope that Madison's hair grows right along with his!

Higgins Lake 2009

Every year my family gets together for a vacation at Higgin's Lake. My uncle graciously lets us use his cottage, and my brother graciously totes us around on his boat for skiing and other fun water activities. We eat lots of good food, rent movies, have a campfire or two, and of course go get ice cream at Nibbles!

This year Madison was able to experience Higgin's Lake for the first time! She may have been too young to understand it or enjoy it, but it was exciting for us none the less. Since Matt spent his vacation in the hospital with Madison and I, he was only able to spend a day and half at Higgins.

So on Sunday, Matt, Madison, and I headed up to Higgins. One of the first things we did when we got there was to introduce Madison to the lake and say hi! This may seem a little odd, but it's a bit of a tradition for some of us in our family to say hello and good bye to the lake. Below are two pictures of Matt holding up Madison so she could say hello to the lake.

Matt had to leave on Monday, but not before he got to see Dad, Brother Matt, and Melissa. Before Matt left we also got some family pictures done. Brother Matt took the pictures and Melissa helped. They did a great job!

On Thursday, the Millers and the Platte's came to join us. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very nice especially over the weekend. We did go to the state park on Wednesday and Friday. While we were at the beach I HAD to take some pictures of Madison's first trips to the beach AND her first adorable swimsuit! (Thank you Jenny!)

Despite the icky weather, we were fortunate to be (almost) all together for another year at Higgins!

Madison and Great Grandpa Bertram

Last week Dad was looking through some pictures and found a picture of Great Grandpa Bertram when he was an infant. He put it next to one of Madison's current pictures and . . well just take a look. Pretty funny huh? I love you Grandpa Bertram!

Sleeping and Screeching!

Last night Madison slept through the night without making a noise! It was a little scary when I heard Matt's alarm go off and realized I hadn't heard Madison all night. So as a nervous mother I quickly checked her, and she was fine. Whew! She hasn't been waking up for feedings since we came home from the hospital, but she wakes up quite a bit and fusses, but goes back to sleep pretty easily. Needless to say I was a very happy mom this morning!

After we got up and Madison had her bottle, I put her in her swing to play and she started screeching in delight! This is one of the first times I heard her do this and it was so cute! She did it two or three times.
