Heart Update

This update is long overdue. About a month or so ago, we switched cardiologists. We struggled with this decision. There wasn't any one big thing that made us want to switch, but instead some little things. We also had heard many great things about Dr. Monica Goble, (the cardiologist we wanted to switch to). In the end, my motherly instinct won out and we switched. Madison's course of treatment or quality of care may or may not have improved with this change, but I just feel a little more assured for some reason.

After meeting with Dr. Goble, she agreed with the decision to begin taking her off her heart medication. (This was also the decision of her previous pediatric cardiologist.) She first had U of M look at the tracings from her last halter, which made me feel reassured. The results from those tracings looked good, so Dr. Goble made a plan to wean her off her meds.

Madison was currently taking her medication three times a day. The following week, we gave the meds to her two times a day, and then a week later once a day, to finally no medication. After she was off her medication for about four days, they put her on a holter monitor for 24 hours.

We have not gotten back the results of her holter yet, but she seems to be doing great! We have checked her heart rate occasionally and it seems to be within normal limits! It is so great for her to be off her medication! We are so thrilled that she is doing so well, and so very thankful that if she continues to do well, she will not need another ablation. What a Christmas blessing!
