Madison's First Snowman

December 12, 2010

Believe it or not December 12th was one of the first real big snowfalls of the winter of 2010, so of course we had to take Madison outside and build a snowman. We bundled Madison up so she looked like a little Eskimo and headed outside. Madison didn't do too much outside, probably because she was so bundled up she couldn't move. She just stood there and took it all in, but she seemed to enjoy it.

Platte Twins

December 11, 2010

I had the pleasure of photographing the Logan and Andrew when they were about a month old. I was very excited to photograph my first set of twins, and they were newborns no less! It was fun but exhausting too! I also snapped some family pictures! Here are some of my favorite shots!

Our Little Bookworm

December 10, 2010

I don't exactly remember how it started, but for a while Madison didn't want to start her day without spending a little time "reading".

I would go into her room in the morning to get her out of her crib and the first thing she would do was point to some of the books on the floor in her room and say "Book"! I would hand her a few books and she would just sit and read them quietly in her crib. Sometimes I would try to get her out of her crib before her book time and she wouldn't want to! It was so cute!

Decorating the Tree

December 8, 2010

I have always enjoyed decorating the Christmas Tree, and this year I figured Madison might be old enough to kind of enjoy it this year or help out a little. . . . WRONG!

It was actually kind of funny how much she DIDN'T want to be involved! I think the pictures speak for themselves.

St. Nicholas Day

December 5, 2010

When I was growing up, St. Nicholas Day was always a fun and exciting day, so I wanted to continue the tradition with Madison. After we had Madison and I heard it was St. Nicholas Day, I started to discuss the day with some of my colleagues, only to find out that some of them have never heard of it. When I asked Matt about it, I found out he had never heard of it either. I was confused so I googled it!

Well I figured out that it is more of a European tradition. (That kind of explains why I grew up celebrating it.) It is celebrated different ways in different parts of Europe, and when I read the German tradition, it was very similar to way I celebrated it growing up.

On the evening of December 5th, we would anxiously wait until we heard a knock on one of our outside doors. When we heard the knock we knew that Santa had just left us something outside the door. We would run to the door and open it to find a brown grocery bag filled with something special for us. Usually it was a bag or two of candy and maybe some hats and gloves.

So here are videos of how we celebrated it with Madison. You can notice in the first video how she scurries to the door nervously. It is really cute!

Christmas Pictures

December 5, 2010

My friend Larene was gracious enough to take our Christmas pictures again this year. She did a great job.
