Madison has been working really hard to suck her thumb for a while now. She's actually got it in her mouth once or twice and sucked away! It's so cute and part of Matt and I want her to find it because it is so cute when little tiny babies suck their thumb, BUT we know it's not as cute when they get older, AND . . . as everyone says, "You can take away a pacifier, but you can't take away a thumb."

Madison Cooing
Over the last two to three weeks, Madison started cooing. I was so excited when I first heard her do it, because I just couldn't wait for her to start! Since that first little coo, weeks ago, she has started to talk more and more! She really started talking more just before she went into the hospital and when she was in the hospital. She also started smiling a ton more at this time! Since we came home from the hospital, I have been trying to get a good sample on video, but every time I brought out the camera, she would stop, but today, I finally got a good video while my niece Megan was talking to her in her crib. I'm still working on getting some good smiles on video!

Visitors & Ding Dong the TV's Gone!
On Sunday, July 19th, Madison was officially 12 weeks old. We started the day by going to church. This first picture is right before church. Matt sat Madison on the couch so he could pack her diaper bag. I couldn't resist taking a picture with her cute little belly hanging out!

A while after church, Uncle Matt and Aunt Melissa happened to be in Michigan so they stopped by to visit for a bit. Grandma and Grandpa Bertram came over too.

Later in the afternoon Uncle Chad, Aunt Jenny, and cousins Austen and Kennen came to pick up our old TV!! Matt was very sad to see his 65 inch big screen leave, but I was ecstatic to have it out of our living room!!! I even had to take pictures! Don't feel to bad for Matt, we did get a replacement, although it's ONLY 42 inches!

While Jenny, Chad and the boys were visiting Aunt Jenny painted Madison's toenails and Kennen changed her diaper.

Heart Update
Today we had our first appointment with the cardiologist since we've been home from the hospital and things are looking good. They did an EKG and a short Echo. Both tests looked good. The EKG showed that she was in sinus or normal rhythm, and her heart function looks like it's almost back to normal according to the echo. The cardiologist put her on a halter monitor for 24 hours to see how often she is in sinus.
Madison seems to be feeling well and is back to her old self, sleeping, eating, smiling and playing! She is getting so big already!

We're Home
We got home yesterday afternoon around 3:00. Since then it has been pretty uneventful - thank goodness! Matt's Mom, Step-Dad, and Grandma came to visit last night. Unfortunately, Madison was either sleeping, or cranky the majority of the time they were here! We think she had some gas.
At about 5:00 this morning, after I finished feeding Madison, I got a little worried about her heart rate. I woke Matt up and we checked it with our new stethoscope, and it was fine! Whew! I was so worried we were going to end up going back to Mott. Thank goodness for stethoscopes!
This morning it has been so wonderful to sit on the couch as a family in our pajamas! We are so happy to be home!

We're Going Home!!!!!
We got the official word this morning around 10:30, we are going home! We are so excited, it has been a long road. We have been in the hospital for 9 days. Although, that is minimal to some families who have been here for months, or even a year or more. We will continue to pray for them and for all the children here at Mott. It just doesn't seem fair that children should have to endure such things.
The medicine seems to be working well at keeping her heart rate low. She still has some arrhythmia, but that is okay. We will continue to follow up with our cardiologist and come here sometimes to see the EP. They also suggested buying a stethoscope to check her heart rate occasionally.
Thanks so much for all your support and prayers during this challenging time. We truly believe that the prayers helped in so many ways. God Bless.
